Tomorrow is Groundhog Day! Somebody said to me yesterday, "you know there will either be 6 more weeks of Winter or a month and a half." We certainly don't have much to complain about, it's Ohio and anything can happen. I remember an April in 1987, Miriam and I were living in Mount Vernon, Oh, 18 inches of snow fell. It is like it was yesterday due to the fact I was trying to pass a kidney stone. Well if Spring arrives tomorrow or if it is another 6 weeks, I am going to Rejoice.
Why am I rejoicing? It goes back to the Pastor's Pen before Christmas where I asked you to look up several passages of Scripture. Two stick out in my mind; 1) "...for He shall save His people from their sins." and 2) ...and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." Both of these verses come from Matthew Chapter 1. From these and other passages found in the Bible I have two reasons to Rejoice.
First, I can know forgiveness of my sins and can have eternal life. I was heading in the wrong direction, but now, I am heading in the right direction. I was blind, but now, I see. I was bound for Hell, but now, I am bound for Heaven. This is why I am rejoicing today!
Second, I do not have to face life, my problems, my trials alone, God is with me! It does not matter if I am going through the valley or on the mountain top, God is with me. I may be rich or I may be poor, God is with me. I may be sick or I may be feeling great, God is with me! This is why I am rejoicing today!
